Precision that goes beyond the visible. With superfinishing or Short-stroke honing, we achieve a surface finish that not only looks perfect, but works on every level. In accordance with DIN 8589 Part 14, we use this machining process to create a quality that goes far beyond the usual. Unlike traditional turning or grinding, where the process is characterized by point friction, we experience a completely new dimension of precision here – through complete surface contact between tool and workpiece.

The powerful combination of workpiece rotation and the finely tuned tool oscillation creates a sinusoidal line that moves each individual abrasive grain across the surface. This movement ensures that machining tracks intersect at a perfect angle, resulting in grooves and plateaus – structures that are not only visually impressive, but also functional. These grooves act like channels that distribute lubricants evenly, increasing the performance of your components. The plateaus ensure a high load-bearing capacity, which provides exceptional stability.

Removal of the thermally induced surface zone. The silent danger in the edge zone – specifically eliminated. Conventional machining processes such as grinding, hard turning or fine turning produce what the eye cannot see but the component can feel: a thermally altered edge zone. This so-called “soft skin” is formed by localized heat in the contact zone between the workpiece and the tool – a zone full of internal stresses, microscopic cracks and reduced strength. It acts like a veil over the actual potential of your material – susceptible to abrasion, wear and pitting.

But there is a way back to the original strength: superfinishing, where the temperature in the effective zone remains low – almost imperceptibly so. Precision instead of heat. Instead of stress: control. The thermally damaged surface layer is completely removed, layer by layer, grain by grain – until the undamaged, abrasion-resistant base material is exposed.
