Cutting edge preparation technology

Precision in the micrometer range – reproducible, controllable, superior. When it comes to the micro-geometry of the cutting edge, every detail counts. Nagel relies on a robot-guided brushing process that not only enables maximum repeat accuracy, but also defined intervention control according to the individual specifications and requirements of our customers. The results are evaluated in accordance with VDI/VDE 2654 Sheet 2, which serves as a guideline for the measurement process.

With precise motion sequences, optimally coordinated process parameters and specially developed brushes, we shape cutting edges in a targeted manner – efficiently, in a controlled manner and with maximum effect. Your benefit: reproducible quality, extended tool life and machining processes that set standards – in efficiency, precision and cost-effectiveness.

  • Stabilization of the cutting edge
  • Reduction in the number of shares
  • Reduction of production costs in the application
  • Positive influence on wear behavior
  • Tool life increase of up to 360%, depending on tool type and edge design
  • Minimizing the probability of edge breakage
  • Increased process reliability and improved processing quality
  • Dimensional accuracy
  • Shape accuracy
  • Roughness parameters
  • Selective preparation of individual edges using selected processing brushes
  • Reproducible results within narrow tolerance ranges
  • Integrated optical measurement technology of the features, based on VDI/VDE guideline 2654, with feedback to the control system powered by Bruker Alicona
  • Low cleaning effort
  • Large variance of achievable edge geometries possible without retooling
