Automated gluing processes with maximum flexibility

The new NaDos Robot Cell from Nagel Technologies GmbH sets new standards in automated dispensing technology. The system combines a UR 10e six-axis robot with innovative features such as plasma pre-treatment, calibration sensors and simulation tools for robot path planning. The innovative path planning tool allows robot paths to be created quickly and intuitively – a significant advantage for development departments and test facilities. Its high level of flexibility makes it the ideal solution for industrial bonding applications, particularly in the field of electromobility, where precision and reproducibility are required.

Plasma pre-treatment for optimum adhesion

One of the central functions of the NaDos Robot Cell is plasma pre-treatment, which was supplied by Plasmatreat’s plasma equipment and integrated by Nagel. “By activating the surfaces, we significantly improve the wettability and therefore the adhesion of the adhesive,” explains Philipp Schuh, Advanced Robotic Solutions at Nagel Technologies GmbH. “This ensures reproducible quality without reworking or cleaning steps.”

High process reliability thanks to intelligent sensor technology

The integrated calibration using a TCP sensor (tool center point of the robot) ensures exact tool positioning. An additional precision scale enables exact dosing and calibration of the applied adhesive.

Depending on the application, different dispenser sizes can be used. The dosing rates are between 0.01 – 1,092 ml/min. The dispensers can also be combined for 2k applications with different mixing ratios.

Flexibility as a USP: tool change and simulation software

An outstanding feature of the NaDos Robot Cell is its flexibility. Thanks to a tool changing system, the system can be retrofitted with additional dispensers, grippers, screwdrivers or camera systems. “Our customers appreciate the quick and easy changeover, especially in a test environment,” emphasizes Philipp Schuh. “Different adhesives and processes can be tested with minimal effort and without the need for extensive adjustments.”

The newly developed simulation tool also allows robot paths to be planned digitally in advance and collisions to be avoided. By simply setting points, the system automatically connects the optimum path and simulates the entire motion sequence.

Wide range of applications and industrial use

The NaDos Robot Cell is particularly suitable for bonding applications in e-mobility, such as bonding stators in axial flux motors. Thanks to its six-axis kinematics, it can process 2D and 3D contours, even at difficult angles or overhead. The working area comprises a 1200 x 800 mm perforated table with variable clamping element equipment.

Economic advantages: Automation and intuitive operation

Another advantage of the NaDos Robot Cell is its ease of use. The intelligent process control makes it possible to achieve productive results quickly, even without in-depth robot programming knowledge. This not only saves time, but also makes operation very simple.

Future-proof solution for the series production of axial flux motors

In addition to use in test and development environments, the NAGEL Group also supplies solutions for the series production of axial flux motors with a complete manufacturing process. Customers benefit from a strong partner network: Wafios AG, for example, contributes systems for bending the coils, NAGEL’s sister company Gehring Technologies GmbH + Co KG contributes its line know-how as well as a high level of expertise in welding and trickling, while Lambda Resins provides support with potting expertise. This close cooperation ensures that customers receive a consistently optimized, highly automated manufacturing solution – from individual components to complete series production

With the NaDos Robot Cell, Nagel offers a highly flexible and precise automation solution that opens up new possibilities, particularly in electromobility. The combination of plasma pre-treatment, intelligent sensor technology, simulation software and modular expandability makes it an ideal tool for companies that rely on reproducible quality and future-proof production.
